Persitant Organic Pollutants Emission model (POPE)

Abstract

Global area-based isoprene emission potential (EP, μg m−2 h−1) maps for the purposes of isoprene emission estimation using the MEGANv2.1 model (Guenther et al., GMD, 2012). The global annual mean isoprene EP ma,ps provided together with the MEGANv2.1 model were updated for the European domain. EP values in Europe are based on detailed maps of forest species and other vegetation combined with Europe-specific emission fa,ctors for each species. The EP map update makes use of procedures developed over many years for the EMEP model. The basic emission factors and LAI changes are taken from a high-resolution version of the EMEP mod,el rv4.33 (Simpson et al., ACP, 2012). This compilation resulted in monthly mean isoprene EP values that were processed to satisfy the MEGANv2.1 standard environmental conditions. The monthly mean isoprene EP va,lues for Europe were embedded into the global annual mean isoprene EP maps from MEGANv2.1 model. The European domain has the following extent: logitude [-29.95, 65.95], latitude [30.05, 71.95]. The year 2000 assigned to the dataset is a representative year for the underlying land cover.
