Abstract
For 21 years, the “German Climate Computing Centre” (DKRZ) has provided the much needed computational resources for German climate research. To do so requires a multi-million investment to keep the hardware up-to-date and on a competitive level. Now, 60 million Euros have been made available to allow a successful continuation of the services of DKRZ - 26 million Euros by the City of Hamburg for a new building and 33 million Euros by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) for a new highperformance computer and a new data archive for the new facilities.
