Influence of aging on damping of the magnesium–aluminium–zinc series

Abstract

Age hardening of different magnesium wrought alloys (magnesium–aluminium–zinc series) was investigated by previous termdampingnext term measurements, hardness measurements and microstructural analyses for previous termagingnext term temperatures 200, 250 and 300 °C. An previous termagingnext term time of up to 150 h for each temperature was used. Within this previous termagingnext term time range previous termdampingnext term and hardness went into saturation that was accelerated by higher previous termagingnext term temperature. previous termDampingnext term and hardness behaviour could be attributed to precipitation. The previous terminfluencenext term of precipitation on previous termdampingnext term behaviour was explained in the framework of the dislocation string model of Granato and Lücke.
