The skeleton and pharyngeal teeth of zebrafish (Danio rerio) as a model of biomineralization in vertebrates

Abstract

Zebrafish (Danio rerio) has become one of the most common models for genetics, and developmental research in the biosciences. Synchrotron radiation micro computer tomography (SR Mue CT), scanning electron microscopy, polarized light microscopy, and energy-dispersive X-ray analysis were applied to visualize the biomineralization in teeth and bones in high spatial resolution.
