Abstract
Hyperbranched methacrylates were synthesized by Self-Condensing Group Transfer Polymerization (SCGTP) of 2-(2-methyl-1-triethylsiloxy-1-propenyloxy)ethyl methacrylate (MTSHEMA) and characterized by multi-detector SEC as well as quantitative 13C-NMR. Kinetic measurements revealed that side reactions limit the molecular weights and lower the polydispersity. A maximum degree of branching of DB 0.4 and a reactivity ratio, r = k A/k B = 18 ± 5, was determined.
