Environmentally Assisted Cracking in High Strength Pipeline Steels

Abstract

ESIS TC10 on Environmentally Assisted Cracking (EAC) and the TC10 Subcommittee on Hydrogen Degradation held a joint Workshop on “EAC in High Strength (Pipeline) Steels” on 28 and 29 October 2004, at the facilities of VeneziaTecnologie in Porto Marghera (Venice). VeneziaTecnologie (www.veneziatecnologie.it) is a research laboratory which has been structured to support industrial companies in their technological development. The meeting was organized by EniTecnologie, and aimed at discussing issues of EAC in high strength pipeline steels, with contributions by experts in both the fields of fracture mechanics and stress corrosion cracking (SCC). Specialists from France, Germany, Italy, UK and the Ukraine participated in this Workshop.
