The loading is realised using a custom-made Arcan-type fixture equipped with an anti-buckling device. The evolution of the strains during loading is analysed by means of digital image correlation. The failure strain as a function of the loading direction and sheet orientation is quantified. A phenomenological plasticity model is applied in the framework of Finite Elements to simulate the observed deformation histories. Deformation is modelled by a combination of symmetric and asymmetric plastic potential. It is shown that the model is able to simulate the deformation behaviour experienced during the mixed-mode tests.}, note = {Steglich, D.: Mixed-mode deformation and failure of magnesium sheets.
