The hybrid lift gate has to fulfil a variety of requirements corresponding to dimensional stability, weight, stiffness, crash and corrosion performance. The hybrid concept in general as well as various interfaces and connecting points require a careful design to prevent galvanic corrosion. Critical points are introduced and for two examples (gas pressure spring and hinge) the constructive criterions are discussed. Finally, the concept of corrosion protection measures and results of various testing trials of the component are presented.
