In particular, the availability of water for agriculture to ensure food security, but also potential renewable energy sources such as hydropower, are of particular interest to both countries. In developing countries such as Ethiopia and South Sudan, climate variability and extreme events are a cause of reduced crop and livestock production, resulting in food insecurity and migration. Therefore, policy makers need sound information on climate change in order to plan adaptation measures to strengthen the resilience of these specific sectors.
